CCA Golf Tournament

The 14th Annual CCA Classic Golf Scramble was a resounding success.  The new course (Riverside Golf & Country Club) was extremely popular.  Many hours of planning made the events go smoothly.  Even the weather cooperated perfectly.

Top teams were Three Oaks Development and Office Furniture Services.

Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors.  Because of their contributions, we raised 50% more than last year—money that will help CCA continue working to improve the community and economy of the Columbia Corridor.

Governor Kulongoski Supports Manufacturing Center

Members of the Manufacturing 21 Coalition recently met with Oregon. Gov. Kulongoski at PCC Structurals. The Governor expressed his strong support for the manufacturing cluster – embracing the proposed Center for Manufacturing and Infrastructure Engineering as a Signature Research Center. The purpose of Signature Research Center’s is to firmly link education and research to the needs

of Oregon industry and to serve as a focus for private and public investment in Oregon’s economic future. Oregon has one other Signature Research Center - the Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute. The Corvallis-based center recently received $7 million from the Oregon legislature.

Gov. Kulongoski also has worked with Oregon’s congressional delegation to secure federal investment dollars for the Nanoscience Institute. Kulongoski pledged to do the same for manufacturing.

The Governor’s Web page is at http://governor.oregon.gov/Gov/ecodevo/intro.shtml.  Look for the heading, Investing in Businesses and Technologies That Drive an Innovation Economy.

Oregon Court of Appeals Ruling on Metro’s UGB Expansion

The Court of Appeals has upheld all of Metro's 2002 Urban Growth Boundary expansion decisions except for two expansion areas.

The Appeals court remanded back to Metro the decisions on Area 37, next to West Linn, and Area 94, along Skyline Boulevard in Northwest Portland. Metro failed to fully demonstrate that these sites were better than alternative sites.  The court requires additional information and justification for the Metro recommendations.

The full ruling can be found at the
Oregon Court of Appeals website.
