Tours & Member Exchanges

Our tours and exchanges are great opportunities to meet other CCA members, find out a little about how some of the Corridor businesses operate and tour some fascinating facilities.  Have you ever seen a laser cut through one-inch metal?  How about a 100 foot washing machine?  Join us for a few snacks, swap business cards and learn about your neighbors.  CCA tours and exchanges are open to the public and are usually free.

Rezoning in the Middle Columbia Corridor

Do you live or own property near the airport?

The City is proposing to update the environmental overlays on properties north of Columbia Boulevard between I-205 and NE 13th Avenue as part of the Airport Futures planning process. These overlays will likely affect the future use of your property. At this meeting, we’ll discuss how the economic impacts were assessed and begin to list the potential problems that property owners are concerned about.

Free event; No RSVP needed.

Environmental Zoning in the Middle Columbia Slough:

Comparing Metro's Analysis with the City of Portland's

A few years ago, CCA and a wide variety of groups worked with Metro for two years on Nature in Neighborhoods, a regional attempt to balance environmental improvements with economic needs. Recently, the City of Portland drafted a plan which would go far beyond Nature in Neighborhoods, but not include elements such as matching grants, educational services and long-term monitoring. How do the two plans compare? Which one is best for the properties near the Columbia Slough?

Our guest, Jim Desmond, Director of Metro's Sustainability Center will help us understand the policy behind Nature in Neighborhoods and elements of the program, such as the monitoring and performance measures. It will be up to you to help us find and suggest improvements to Portland's proposal.

Free event; No RSVP needed.
